Imagin­ation Station

Jolien Bruin is a freelance architect based in Amsterdam with over a decade of experience across residential, public, and mixed-use projects. She has worked in all stages of building design, from first sketches to technical on-site management and completion.

Jolien has extensive knowledge of sustainable building practices, including building with timber. In her previous role as project architect at Barentsz she worked directly with their timber factory in Latvia to design and construct several "Nul op de Meter" (net zero) houses.

Jolien has worked for renowned Dutch and international practices for more than a decade, including Paul de Ruiter Architects, UNStudio, and Marks Barfield Architects, bringing the quality of large-scale practice to projects of every size. For full CV see LinkedIn →

Alongside her architecture practice, Jolien is finishing visual arts school at MK Ateliers. As an artist, she works at the cross section of photography and installation and her work is deeply architecturally informed. Have a look at jolienbruin.nl → (coming soon)

Her skills include design, technical design, project management, building permit applications (Netherlands), architectural drawing (AutoCAD, Revit), modelling (Revit, SketchUp) and visualization.
